Karlo focuses on housing issues impacting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, immigrants, and other fair housing and civil rights matters. She joined NHLP as the organization’s first David B. Bryson Fellow in 2011 and served as the lead editor and managing attorney of the 4th edition of NHLP’s seminal publication, HUD Housing Programs: Tenants’ Rights. Before joining NHLP, Karlo was the George N. Lindsay Fellow and an associate counsel at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in Washington, D.C., and clerked for Magistrate Judge Adriana Arce-Flores at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Laredo. Karlo received her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law.

Renee Williams

Renee Williams is a Staff Attorney at the National Housing Law Project (NHLP). Renee joined NHLP as a postgraduate public interest law fellow in 2012. Renee focuses on fair housing and equal access issues, including national origin discrimination, housing access for persons with limited English proficiency, housing rights for domestic violence survivors, and the obligation to affirmatively further fair housing. Renee also leads our initiative focusing on the impact of nuisance and crime-free ordinances on domestic violence survivors and others who need emergency assistance. During lawschool, Renee worked as a summer associate at Relman, Dane & Colfax in Washington, D.C., and as a summer law clerk at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Birmingham, Alabama. Before lawschool, she worked as a paralegal in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She graduated from Emory University and earned her law degree from the Universityof ChicagoLawSchool.

Stevi Gray

Stevi Gray has been working in the domestic violence field since 2007. Since this time, she has worked with survivors in shelters, courts, in the hospital, on the crisis line, and through community outreach. Stevi obtained her Master of Social Work degree from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis in 2011. Stevi currently works at Violence Free Colorado and, among other things, provides technical assistance and training on sheltering, housing and homelessness issues as they relate to domestic violence and engages in housing systems advocacy on the state and national levels. In her free time Stevi enjoys taking her dog Roxy on long walks and going to the movies with her partner Brad.

 

Ian Fletcher is the Manager of System Performance for Metro Denver Homeless Initiative in Colorado, overseeing data-driven approaches to ending homelessness including the HMIS database. Previously, he managed a large VA SSVF grant and led local efforts to end Veteran homelessness. He identifies as a community organizer in his role to help build a homeless crisis response system. Ian holds a Master’s in Public Health from University of Illinois at Chicago and a Masters in Social Change from Iliff School of Theology

 

Jackie List is currently Executive Director with Safe Shelter of St. Vrain Valley (Safe Shelter), a program that offers comprehensive victim services in Longmont, Colorado. From 1989 to 2000, Jackie worked with Safe Shelter as an Advocate, Activist, Children’s Program Director, and Public Education Specialist.  In 2000, she took a position as Technical Assistance Specialist and Consultant with the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV) in Harrisburg, PA.  She returned to Colorado six years later, continued as a consultant with the NRCDV, and began working again with Safe Shelter. Jackie accepted the position of Executive Director with Safe Shelter in June of 2010.During her 31 years as an advocate and activist, Jackie has provided local, statewide, and national training on domestic violence and related issues, and done consulting work with victim service organizations nationwide.
